Massive crowd gathers for impromptu McMaster University homecoming party – Hamilton

Hamilton police were called to the streets near McMaster University on Saturday afternoon after an impromptu homecoming party attracted about 1,000 people.

Officers closed some of the roads in the Westdale neighborhood after McMaster’s football game against Waterloo at the nearby Ron Joyce Stadium led to a flood of students in the area.

The game marked the Marauders’ first home competition since Ontario University’s 2019 football season.

The Hamilton Fire Department was called to the area after partygoers overturned on a car at Dalewood Crescent.

Paramedics also responded on the scene, but no serious injuries have been reported.

Police have not said whether anyone has been arrested, charged or ticketed for violations of COVID-19.
