Liverpool have had a strong start to the new Premier League season, but Jurgen Klopp will be on guard against a potential banana skin in the form of Southampton on Saturday.
Although the Anfield team will be strong favorites ahead of their own fans, Liverpool will have to contend with some notable injuries if they are to take all three points.
In defense, Klopp’s team is still without the injured Joe Gomez, while Andy Robertson and Joel Matip have only just returned from an injury. Despite a temptation to keep Kostas Tsimikas and Ibrahima Konate in start XI, Klopp is likely to bring the aforementioned pair back into the fold this weekend.
Liverpool still have to contend with injuries to Curtis Jones, and Naby Keita and James Milner may not be in match fitness yet, so a midfield trio consisting of Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson is expected for Saturday’s Test.
Despite an injury to Roberto Firmino who ruled him out of the game, Klopp should be confident that a top three by Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota can handle the job against Southampton.
