Klay Thompson says the Warriors are a real title chance

Klay Thompson’s return to the Golden State Warriors is very imminent, but the All-Star shooter has liked what he has seen from his teammates so far this season.

The Warriors currently sit at the top of the Western Conference and have the NBA’s best record of 16-2. Thompson was asked a few days ago if he thinks the squad has enough to make a deep playoff like some of the previous Warriors teams he has played on, and Thompson replied in the affirmative.

“Oh, yes. We’re 15-2. That’s a great indicator. Our defense is top 3 in the league along with our offensive. And I’m not even out there yet.” he said. “Think about it. Really think about it.”

Golden State is currently ranked first in the defensive rating in the league and has the highest points difference per. match this season with 13.5.

Thompson has not played a competitive NBA game since Game 6 of the NBA Finals when he tore his left ACL. He did not play at all during the COVID-19 interrupted season 2019-20, but then blew up his Achilles tendon in November 2020. On Tuesday, he participated in his first full training session for the Warriors since then.

“It’s so exciting,” Thompson said. “Just running up and down the court and playing basketball, it’s really a blessing, and it’s so easy to get to work. The boring stuff is behind me, and now it’s just getting back in shape – I’m have to be patient because I may be an overzealous person to get out there and play, but I’m just incredibly grateful to be out there. “

The Warriors have a one-game lead over the scorching sun in the Western Conference and will play five of their next 10 away games. They have a tough stretch of matches where they host the Blazers after Thanksgiving, away against the Clippers and then a home / away series against Phoenix.
