A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help Shelly Glover with litigation costs while she fights for a new Manitoba PC Leadership poll.
As of Thursday night, she has raised more than $ 30,000.
“It’s something of a unique thing, but look, lawyers are expensive, good legal aid costs a lot of money,” said Curtis Brown of Probe Research.
Glover confirmed to CTV News that the site has been created on her behalf and has a target of $ 50,000.
“Since October 30, when the results of the PC Party of Manitoba Leadership Election were announced, I have been involved in pursuing justice in the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench,” the Go Fund Me page states.
“Although there were many, many unusual, irregular and worrying things that happened throughout the election, such as members not receiving ballot papers and not being able to vote, what happened on October 30 is now before the courts. in an accelerated way because all members and Manitobans need to know that the results were inaccurate. “
The PC party has denied that injustice took place during the election.
Glover is asking donors to give a range of $ 5 to $ 1,000 or more, and some people have taken it on with several people donating thousands of dollars, and one person even donating $ 5,000.
“We know, based on the results of the leadership competition and what happened, that Shelly Glover has some pretty committed followers, and that’s maybe more proof of that,” Brown said.
Glover got more than 8,000 votes in the leadership race and narrowly lost to Heather Stefanson.
The hearing is scheduled for December 10.
