Filbasket MVP Simon Camacho signs with Phoenix

MANILA, Philippines – Simon Camacho was signed by the Phoenix Fuel Masters of the PBA after being named the most valuable player in the recently concluded Filbasket tournament.

The Fuel Masters officially welcomed the former Adamson player to their roster last Friday, posting a photo of Camacho with team manager Paolo Bugia and coach Topex Robinson.

Camacho was selected by TNT in the third round of the 2019 PBA Rookie Draft, but was unable to secure a contract.

He played for the Bacolod Masters in the Maharlika Pilipina Basketball League, which took a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

At Filbasket, Camacho Medical Depot led to the quarterfinals, where the team was knocked out by the San Juan Knights.

He averaged 14.3 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.6 assists to get the MVP honor.
