Of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s five children, two have followed in his footsteps: Patrick Schwarzenegger and Joseph Baena. As for the latter, you might remember that five years ago, Baena recreated one of her father’s most memorable scenes from the 1991s. Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Now, on the set for his new film, Baena once again totally channels the younger version of Arnold Schwarzenegger, albeit in a different way.
Joseph Baena is currently working on Bitflix’s Lava, the world’s first fully crypto-funded film. Although no details have been revealed Lava‘s premise or who Baena plays, the actor shared a photo of himself on Instagram during filming in Honolulu, Hawaii, and he looks like his father had been drawn from decades earlier into the present. See for yourself!
Do you remember then The Terminator‘s eponymous antagonist arrived in 1984 from the future without clothes and immediately ready to start chasing Sarah Connor? Except that Joseph Baena is wearing shorts in this picture, it’s the same kind of vibe I get here. Or, if you prefer, you can imagine Baena trying to emulate her father’s version of Conan the Barbarian, albeit with shorter hair. In any case, the guy is ripped off and it’s going to be interesting to learn what exactly he’s doing in Lava.
Lava is just one of the many projects Jospeh Baena has on the way, with others including Scam team, Wagon, Meetings and Bully High. He also shared a photo of himself back in May while riding a horse without a torso, which served as a pretty good argument for why he should star in a western. With Arnold Schwarzenegger still in the play and Patrick Schwarzenegger building his own filmography, I wonder if there will come a day when Baena is going to perform with her father or half-brother. If we go a step further, could we one day see him take on one of his father’s roles in an official remake / restart? We’ll see, though I could certainly see him playing a Terminator model.
Speaking of killer robots, Arnold Schwarzenegger last played a T-800 in 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate, and his upcoming projects are i.a. Kung Fury 2, Triplets (who will see him and Danny DeVito work with Tracy Morgan) and a TV series that has yet to become the title described as a “global spy adventure.” Looking at his personal life, Schwarzenegger wrote a sweet tribute to Joseph Baena last month for his 24th birthday, and Baena joined his siblings to wish their father a happy 74th birthday back in July.
