Boy allegedly indecently assaulted at Bunbury mall toilet

An 11-year-old boy has reportedly been indecently assaulted while trapped inside a public restroom by a man in a shopping mall in Bunbury.

Bunbury detectives have charged a 19-year-old man with the intimidating attack, which they claim happened at around 3pm on Tuesday.

“It will be alleged that the 19-year-old man went into a public restroom inside the mall and held an 11-year-old boy against his will,” a spokeswoman for police said.

“It is further presumed that the man also assaulted the boy while he was inside the toilet.

“The man was arrested shortly afterwards and taken to Bunbury police station.”

The 19-year-old man is charged with three serious common violent crimes as well as a single charge of deprivation of liberty and indecent treatment of a child under 13 years of age.

Police gave the man bail under strict conditions and said there was no lasting threat to the community.

He is due to appear in Bunbury Magistrates Court on Thursday due to the attack.
