- An official tweet suggests a Xiaomi home repair service.
- The tweet is not entirely clear, but it seems to emphasize direct-to-customer services.
- If successful, it would be the first Android smartphone OEM to directly follow Apple’s lead.
Now it looks like a Xiaomi home repair service may be on the way. The official Xiaomi India Twitter account announced this tweet (mirror below) that seems to suggest just such a service.
For us, it has always been about 𝗬𝗼𝘂
It has been about 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 experience with us.
We have always strived to put 𝗬𝗼𝘂 first.
And now we take things a notch higher, just for 𝗬𝗼𝘂.
Clearly, the announcement does not explicitly say anything about Xiaomi home repairs. However, the emphasis on “you” and the “simplified services” part of the picture strongly alludes to such a program. Xiaomi also has a long history of seeking inspiration from Apple, so it would make sense for Xiaomi to follow in Apple’s footsteps here.
Keep in mind that this comes from the Indian Xiaomi account. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that this would start in the Indian market, at least in the first place.
If this ends up happening, Xiaomi might be the first Android OEM to roll out its own app in response to Apple. Here is the hope that more companies are following suit as the ability for individuals to make simple repairs on their phones is useful, necessary and generally the right thing to do.
