BBC Weather predicts exactly when heavy snow will fall over Devon

‘Gale and heavy snow showers’ are set to hit Dartmoor on Saturday this week as temperatures plummet and winter approaches, reports the BBC.

According to BBC Weather, gales and heavy snow showers are expected in Princetown on Saturday, with temperatures set to drop to a minimum of one degree Celsius during the day.

It comes as a yellow weather forecast has been issued by the Met Office for Friday and Saturday this week as a period of windy weather grips large parts of the UK.

In terms of heavy snow showers this weekend, the BBC’s outlook between Thursday and Saturday this week reads: “Thursday will have a largely dry and bright start to the day.

“It will remain dry and bright in many areas, but there is a risk that an odd shower will drift in from the west later.

“Friday will be cloudy and windy with a band of heavy rain moving in from the northwest. Showers will follow overnight, possibly becoming wintry over higher terrain. Saturday will be turbulent.”

When we talk about the weather forecast for winds coming into place this Saturday, the Met Office predicts that gusts are likely to reach 50 to 60 mph, with 70 to 80 mph in coastal locations.

The Met Office predicts strong winds will arrive over northern Scotland during Friday afternoon before becoming more widespread overnight and Saturday morning.

However, the location and strength of the strongest winds remain uncertain.

The Met Office said gusts are likely to reach 50mph to 60mph wide, but may reach 70mph to 80mph in coastal areas.

Bridges and roads can also close, and the Met Office said there is a small chance of power outages affecting services such as cell phone coverage.

The strong winds are expected to affect most of the UK, with only a small part of south-east England avoiding a yellow weather forecast.

The warning will be valid until 6pm on Saturday.
