Man dies and woman seriously injured in crash near Shrewsbury

Emergency services received a 999 call at 1:23 p.m. Sunday afternoon for reports of a two-vehicle collision on the B4386 between Shrewsbury and Cruckton.

Both drivers, a man and a woman, had sustained serious injuries and were being treated on the spot by ambulance personnel before being taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

The 51-year-old man died despite the best efforts of ambulance people, and the woman is being treated for life-changing injuries.

Police have said one of the vehicles, a blue Ford Focus, had been seen driving erratically in the center of Shrewsbury.

It was driven from The Gap parking lot at Raven Meadows around noon. 12.45 and drove along Roman Road and Mytton Oak Road before joining the B4386.

The officers would like to hear from anyone who has seen this car being driven or caught on dashcam.

Two ambulances, an ambulance officer and Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT trauma doctor and emergency paramedics on board were dispatched to the scene and treated both patients.
