Alicia Keys has been playing the soundtrack to our lives for decades now, but it looks like her sons may soon be playing the soundtrack to our children’s lives. The Keys’ long-awaited sold-out show in Harlem was a huge hit – and it included a surprising guest star: her youngest son, Genesis.
During an extra at the Apollo Theater, Keys asked his fans, “My son Genesis wants out – is that okay?” The answer, of course, was yes, so Genesis went on stage, disguised herself, and sat down next to her mother. Although they did not sing a duet as some had hoped, the 6-year-old said “hello” to the audience and looked lovingly at her mother as she performed her hit song, “If I Ain’t Got You.”

Before she started, she said, “This is for him. This is for you” – signaling to her second son, Egypt, who was comfortable behind the scenes.
Keys and husband for more than a decade Swizz Beatz has two boys together: Egypt Daoud, 11, and Genesis Ali, 6. The couple is also co-parent son Kaseem, 13, with Beatz ‘ex-wife Mashonda Tifrere.

Back in 2019, Keys opened up to PEOPLE about how motherhood has shaped her mindset on both herself and how she views life. “I think motherhood makes you look at yourself in a way that is a mirror like no other you have been presented with before.” She added: “I think [motherhood] is as challenging as it is rewarding and I think it’s part of the reward. You really have to look at yourself. ”
We hope to see more little appearances from her growing boys in the future, for let’s face it, it was absolutely adorable.
