T20 World Cup 2021: Brad Hogg feels Shaheen Afridi could disrupt Australian opener David Warner

Former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg reckons David Warner could have a tough time against Shaheen Afridi in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021.

Australia face Pakistan in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday. While Pakistan topped Group 2, Australia finished in second place in the second group.

In a preview of the clash, Hogg believed that Pakistan has taken over when it comes to match-ups, especially the match between Warner and Afridi. On his YouTube channel, he explained:

“Pakistan’s opening bowlers against Finch and Warner are a big headache for me. Shaheen Afridi swings it away from Warner with the more straight. Warner, who plays away from his body, has a chance for an edge, or he may be bowled with the distance between bat and bad. Warner is not as comfortable with the left-arm quicker as he is with the right-arm quicker.

Hogg added that Imad Wasim’s left arm spin is likely to bother Australian captain Aaron Finch. He stated:

“The other headache is (Imad) Wasim bowling to Finch with the left arm balls. Finch is not very sure about that and it is an important match for me to decide if Australia wins or loses the match.”

Warner has found some form in the T20 World Cup 2021. He has scored 187 runs in five games with a strike rate of 144.96 by two half-centuries. Finch has managed 130 races with a best of 44.

“Australia will hope Maxwell meets Shadab and Hasan” – Brad Hogg

According to Hogg, Australia will be in better control of the middle overs if Glenn Maxwell gets to face the most overs from play spinner Shadab Khan and pacer Hasan Ali.

The 50-year-old explained that if fast bowler Haris Rauf bowled to Maxwell early in the inning, Pakistan could have taken over. Hogg elaborated:

“The second match is where Haris Rauf will be used in the middle overflows. Australia will hope that Maxwell will face Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali most of his batting phase. It’s the kind of match-up where Australia can take the fight away from Pakistan. If Pakistan has enough leftovers for Rauf, then they can get on top of Maxwell. But if Rauf has been used too much and they need him to throw a few leftovers at the death, then Maxwell can take advantage of it. “

33-year-old Maxwell has not had a good race in the T20 World Cup 2021 so far. He scored 18, 5 and 6 in Australia’s first three matches and has not been out of 0 in the last two matches.
