The band and their guests went heavy on the Rolling Stones and Neil Young covers.
Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Real closed this year’s Telluride Blues & Brews Festival on Sunday with a Super Jam performance. The band welcomed a host of guests over the course of the hour, including Nathaniel Rateliff, Amythyst Kiah, Jewel, Devon Allman, Duane Betts and more last night at Telluride’s Town Park.
Nelson and his group went it alone to get the set started with a bid for The Rolling Stones’ “Get Off Of My Cloud.” Jewel was the first guest and added a cover of Neil Young’s “Love Is A Rose”. It was then back to The Rolling Stones’ catalog for a version of “Dead Flowers” with folk duo Jamestown Revival.
Kiah showed up next door to sing Neil Young’s “Heart Of Gold.” A double dose of Rolling Stones covers followed as Devon Allman and Duane Betts helped with the Stones’ “Shine A Light” before Larkin Poe extended Lukas and POTR on “Start Me Up.” Nathaniel Rateliff then expanded the Neil Young classic “Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere”. All the guests from the set returned to the final “Rainy Day Women # 12 & 35”.
