Neville reaps more praise for Villa

Gary Neville has even more nice words for Villa.

The Manchester United legend was full of praise for Villa’s performance at Chelsea nine days ago despite the visitors losing 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Villa had made a good effort in London and were regretted by individual mistakes and class moments from the reigning European champions.

Villa, however, looked much more like Everton last time out, winning 3-0 thanks to three goals in the second half in nine minutes.

Man United fans smoke at Villa decision

Mike Dean takes charge of Manchester United against Villa on Saturday (12.30).

The Wirral-based whistleblower has been appointed as referee for the Premier League game at Old Trafford.

Darren Cann and Eddie Smart are Dean’s assistant judges, while Michael Sailsbury is the fourth official.

Andy Madley is on video assistant referee (VAR), while Simon Beck is his assistant.

Former Villa loanee Danny Drinkwater is determined to make a comeback.

Drinkwater is on loan at Reading from Chelsea and signed for Veljko Paunovic’s side last month, helping his new team to a 2-1 shock victory at Fulham on Saturday.

Reading is Drinkwater’s fourth loan spell away from Chelsea, which he joined in 2017 from Leicester City for around £ 35 million.

Drinkwater was reunited with N’Golo Kante from his time at City and was the latest player from the 2015-16 Premier League title winners at King Power Stadium to leave when he signed for Chelsea just over four years ago.

Shearer fables about ‘key’ Villa player

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has praised Villa defender Matty Cash for his performance against Everton.

Villa came back to win ways as they beat Everton 3-0 at Villa Park, with Cash on the scoreboard.

£ 14 million in 2020 signing from Nottingham Forest was discovered by Douglas Luiz and locked in the Brazilian’s pass, crashed into the Everton penalty area and fired home with his left foot.

Leon Bailey’s corner was redirected to Everton’s goal by Lucas Digne, and the Villa winger then scored his first goal for the club as he slipped past Jordan Pickford.
