Preparing a seafood dish for dinner requires some planning, especially on weekdays – namely to make sure you finish work on time and can drive to the fishmonger before it closes. Chain supermarkets are always an option, but you may have to gamble on quality.
Seafood specialist Steve Costi has a solution. His longtime family business, Steve Costi’s Seafood, has launched a new online store delivering high quality fresh seafood throughout Sydney.
This means you can easily add whole fish and fillets (including barramundi, blue cod, snapper, sea trout and Tasmanian salmon) to your cart plus Sydney stone oysters, western lobster, Moreton Bay bug, blue flounder, cooked tiger prawns, half-shell scallops, cleaned and tenderized squid, black mussels and more. There are also seasonal sides and spices from Beerenberg.
Ready meals and beautiful sashimi dishes are available from a team led by chef James Wallis, former head chef at Indu and The Tilbury. They include Wellington salmon, fish tacos, seafood lasagne, fish pies and battered fish with potato scallops, while the dishes include sashimi-quality salmon, tuna, kingfisher, scampi and scallops plus salmon caviar and black lumpfish.
Steve Costi opened his first store in David Jones Food Hall on Market Street in Sydney back in 1985 (his father established a fish store in Lakemba almost three decades earlier). His reputation for quality, variety and focus on local produce helped him expand – now there are more than a dozen Steve Costi’s Seafood stores in Sydney, with more in Newcastle and Melbourne.
