Freight rail derailment is causing major delays in services between London and Kent – live updates

A derailment of a freight train at Lee on Sunday night is expected to cause major disruptions to south-east connections between London stations and Kent until noon today.

Southeast says train services will be affected from London Charing Cross and Gravesend, Gillingham (Kent), Crayford, Strood and also between London Cannon Street and Crayford.

Disruption is caused after a commercial freight train crossed another lane toward Grove Park, and buses block the Sidcup line in the Lee area.

A spokesman said: “Response staff are on site but it is not expected to be reintroduced and moved to 12pm on Monday 13 September at the moment but this will depend on further updates from the site.

“All lines are blocked between Crayford and Hither Green due to a derailed freight train in the Lee area. Trains may be canceled, delayed or overhauled. This is expected until 12 noon.

“Trains between Sidcup and Hither Green in both directions cannot run at this time.”

A shuttle service is in operation between Dartford and Sidcup. Departure from Dartford **: 5 and **: 35 every hour and departure from Sidcup **: 18 and **: 48 every hour.
